Hinchey seems to hate bridges almost as much as he loves ferries. If only I had a Congressman who hated ferries as much as I do...

I think Maurice loves Ferries because he was an English major at SUNY New Paltz where, clearly, he studied the works of Walt Whitman, including "Crossing Brooklyn Ferry." He hates bridges for the reason that all English majors hate bridges. It is because we, and by we I mean all English majors who went to SUNY New Paltz, have no idea what Hart Crane was talking about in "The Bridge."
